SEEK SINGERS FOR OUR CHORUS

We serve and support our community.

Special State Project

The Woman’s Club of Morristown is seeking new members to join the Club and sing in its chorus.  Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. at the Club’s headquarters, the Dr.

Lewis Condict House, 51 South Street, Morristown.  There is no audition required, just the love of making music.  Members do not need to live in Morristown. Interested vocalists can contact Beth Wilson at 908-235-2529 or come to a rehearsal.

The Woman’s Club of Morristown is sponsoring an evening of participatory dance as a part of One Billion Rising – Revolution 2018 on Tuesday, February 13.  The event is being held in South Street Dance’s studio, located in the Woman’s Club’s headquarters at 51 South Street, Morristown.  Participants will be dancing in solidarity against the exploitation of women.  Zumba will begin at 7 p.m., led by Carmalee Foster of Expressions of Fitness.  Adult jazz/hip-hop will be taught at 8:15 p.m. by Emily Frank of South Street Dance.  There is no fee to attend, but the donation of a new-with-tags bra is requested.  The bras will be donated to Free the Girls.  For more information on Expressions of Fitness, contact Carmalee Foster at 973-570-2531; for more information on South Street Dance, call 973-292-2323.

One Billion Rising is a global movement, founded in 2012 by Eve Ensler, to end rape and sexual violence against women.  The "billion" refers to the UN statistic that one in three women, or about one billion, will be raped or beaten in her lifetime.  The campaign expands each year.  This year, OBR is set to escalate “risings” against all forms of violence against women, including the systems that cause other forms of violence: imperialism, fascism, racism, capitalism and neo-liberalism.

The Woman’s Club members are dedicated to the service of our community. We are a civic, cultural and education group, working closely with the NJ State Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. We have approximately 110 members who all enjoy being involved in the club's monthly and annual service projects. Service projects include but not limited to: bra recycling, supplies for animals, Project Gratitude (gift bags to Veterans), operation holiday, scholarships for Morristown High School Seniors, baby layettes, Special State Project Prevent Child Abuse, domestic violence shelters, Howard's Mission, Candy Cookie for Spring Hills Assisted Living, Unicef, Seaman's Institute, local food pantry, lap robes and walker bags for nursing homes and the preservation of The Dr. Lewis Condict House.

Since 2004, February also has been the signature month for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign and the message that heart disease is not only a man's problem. In 2018, National Wear Red Day will be celebrated on February 2.
